VISION QUEST

The Vision Quest has been practiced by indigenous people worldwide for thousands of years. It has evolved along with us culturally and is expressed in many forms. However the universal intention of ‘The Quest’ is to be a guide and teacher for those who are seeking clarity to questions they may have along their life-path and help to empower a Vision for their journey. To embark on a Quest is a highly personal choice that requires preparation and commitment to letting go of a few of the emotional and physical crutches that we have grown to depend upon. And in a beautiful natural setting, held by skilled and experienced ‘protectors’, an ancient doorway is opened allowing the voices of nature to be your guides and teachers.

The duration and format of a Quest can and does vary greatly. The Quest, as handed down to us by the elders in our lineage is typically a 4 day fast from food, shelter and human contact. The environment for your Quest will be in as remote and safe a setting as practical to minimize any external distractions. A vital element in your preparation begins months before the Quest in the form of creating a list of questions or naming personal blocks that you have been wrestling with. If this one step is done with great intention and passion it will help to bring more power and meaning to your Quest. Fasting one day per week in the month before your Quest is very helpful in attuning the mind and body to operate at 100% capacity without the ‘habit’ or emotional ‘crutch’ of eating by the numbers on a clock. The removal of all media is also an important element in the emotional and energetic detoxification process. Sensory and emotional hygiene is the resultWhen we cultivate our connection to the Earth, we, by our very nature, become protectors of the Earth. When there is no Earth, there is no life — a harsh and simple truth. Learn more about the Vision Quest.
